Our mission is to engage all K-K6 students, including those who are currently underrepresented in STEM. to learn skills in coding. Coding is the language of computers and is an important skill for kids to know. Start with the basics and grow to do problem-solving techniques that cover fundamental coding concepts such as sequences, loops, events, conditionals, functions, and variables.

‘If they can see it, they can be it’ – Career pathway connections in the curriculum provide students with role models who introduce them to numerous job opportunities and encourage all students to contribute to much needed diversity in the STEM workforce.

Literacy
E-BOOKS: Smart Buddies integrated e-books feature reading level options for both primary (third grade) and intermediate (fifth grade). The books reflect diverse characters working in STEM careers. Each book features a series of Social Emotional Learning discussion and reflection questions at the end.

Highly Engaging – A recent study conducted in 10 elementary schools with 250+ students across the US showed high levels of engagement with both girls and boys, with teachers reporting that children opted to miss recess to continue coding.

Aligned with National Curricula
Meeting Academic Needs
In partnership with Pitsco Education, Smart Buddies lessons are aligned with national curricula for students aged 7-11 including the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, as well as, ISTE standards for Computer Science.
Additionally, students learn important 21st-century social-emotional learning skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution and diversity awareness.
